How to play Basketball
- Pick your duo
Choose your player and a teammate from the Dime League cast, from tiny speedster Dot to Big Mo, then pick a rival duo and a court: the Boardwalk Blacktop, the Old Mill Gym or the Dime Arena.
- Score
Hold shoot to jump and let go at the top of your jump; the meter over your head shows the sweet spot. Hold turbo and press shoot near the rim to dunk, or call for an alley-oop.
- Defend
Swipe for steals, shove with turbo, and jump to block shots and stuff dunks. Four quarters, a 24-second shot clock and overtime if it is tied.
Tips to improve
- Release at the very top of your jump. A pure release goes in far more often, even from deep.
- Turbo is your best weapon and your biggest weakness: save some for the drive to the rim.
- Lob it: call for the ball with turbo when your teammate has it and you are near the basket.
- A shooter with a hand in his face misses more. Swing the ball to the open teammate.
- Steals are easier from behind and on the ball side of the dribble.
Questions
Can I earn money playing Basketball?
Yes, as a free DayDimes member. Basketball has 4 one-time goals worth 60 Tickets in all, up to 25 for “Score 30 points in one game”, and every minute you play counts toward daily game quests worth up to 60 Tickets a day. Swap your Tickets for PayPal Cash or gift cards in your account.
Is DayDimes Basketball free?
Yes. Exhibition games, the Dime Cup, co-op and head-to-head are free in your browser, and no Tickets are ever spent. Members also earn Tickets from daily game quests.
Can I play basketball with a friend?
Yes. Two players can play on one keyboard or with two gamepads, either on the same team against the computer or head to head.
What does on fire mean?
Score three baskets in a row without the other team scoring and your player catches fire: unlimited turbo, a near-automatic jumper and dunks from much further out. The fire goes out when the other side scores.
Is the ball physics real?
Yes. The ball flies with drag and backspin and bounces off a modelled rim, backboard and net, so shots roll around, kiss off the glass or rattle out.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. A thumb stick moves your player, with on-screen Shoot, Pass and Turbo buttons.
