How to play Block Battle
- Pick a rival or a solo mode
Battle five computer rivals from Pip the Rookie to Zero the Legend, each faster than the last, or play Sprint 40 lines, a 150-line Marathon or a two-minute Blitz.
- Stack and clear
Move and rotate the falling pieces to complete rows. Use hold to save a piece for later and the preview to plan ahead.
- Attack
Clearing two or more lines at once sends garbage to your rival. Quads, T-spins, combos and back-to-back clears hit hardest. Fill their board to the top for a knockout. The most knockouts after two minutes wins.
Tips to improve
- Keep your stack flat and leave one column open for a four-line clear.
- Learn the T-spin double: a T rotated into an overhang sends four lines for two cleared.
- Combos add up fast. Several single-line clears in a row can beat one big clear.
- Clearing lines cancels garbage that is waiting to rise, so attack when you are under pressure.
- Lower the auto-repeat delay in Settings once you are comfortable for faster movement.
Questions
Can I earn money playing Block Battle?
Yes, as a free DayDimes member. Block Battle has 5 one-time goals worth 95 Tickets in all, up to 50 for “Beat all five rivals”, and every minute you play counts toward daily game quests worth up to 60 Tickets a day. Swap your Tickets for PayPal Cash or gift cards in your account.
Is Block Battle free?
Yes. It is free to play in your browser with nothing to install, and no Tickets are ever spent. Members also earn Tickets from daily game quests.
Is this like the falling-block battle game people played on Facebook?
It is our own take on that style: two-minute battles, garbage lines, knockouts and ranks, with modern rules such as hold, the seven-piece bag and SRS rotation.
What are T-spins?
A T piece rotated into a tight slot so that three of its four corners are blocked. T-spins send extra garbage, and Block Battle recognises full and mini T-spins.
Can I change the controls?
Yes. Every key can be rebound, and you can tune auto-repeat delay, repeat rate and soft-drop speed. On phones there are swipe gestures and on-screen buttons.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. Drag to move, tap to rotate, flick down to drop and flick up to hold, or turn on the touch buttons.
